DANIEL GAROFALI: CONQUEST! … OF OUR HEART

Daniel Garofali, born January 8, 1987, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, is an Australian model and dancer.

Garofali lived and worked as a dancer on a cruise liner when I was 18 and got his first break when he performed with Australian pop star, Nikki Webster, in her shows. His exposure ended up getting agencies and photographers interested in him.

Garofali lists his hobbies and interests as acting, hiphop, contemporary dance, jazz ballet, tap, classical ballet, funk, musical theatre, singing (baritone), rollerblading, horseriding, soccer, rockclimbing, swimming, athletics, basketball, and football.

The Studio Exterface has just released the last issue of Muto which is totally dedicated to Daniel Garofali under the name of “CONQUEST”.

The photographer Matthew Zink has been very well inspired by the body and the soul of Daniel and has delivered a set of amazing shots of the Australian model who now lives in New Yorl City.

In addition to the most exciting pictures of Daniel, this post includes the text written by the model who express himself about his life, his work and his beliefs.

From Pacific to Atlantic from Miami to NYC from sand to stone from dusk to dawn from passion to inspiration, from eagerness to conquest.

I am 25 years of age I grown up in Australia of Italian heritage. I’m currently living in New York City pursuing my career as a model and anything else that that comes my way satisfaction turns me on

I put everything I have into my work because i love what I do.

When it’s on a trajectory towards my ideas of success I get a little bit closer to being satisfied it may be a forlorn hope but it’s worth the risk.

Since moving to the US I have learn that Australians have  reputation unlike any where else in the  world.

Clients notice that we are hard working, easy going people and so have no problem booking us for jobs.

Australia is a nation of sport, sun and the beach.

At any chance, everyone heads to the beach, although Australia is as big as the USA, about 90% live along the coastline, we strive for a balanced lifestyle of work, leisure, family and friends.

We definitively know how to have a good time.

For me there’s no reason not to be happy. I can’t complain about life I lead, the people I love and the journey I am on.

My everyday conquests are the obstacles that I may face. The conquest is moving forward to your ultimate goal.

I’m the middle child but I’m not sure I played that card very much. I was one of the last generations that played outside in the dirt and rode bike. I was always the kid on the dance floor busting the moves. Even though I don’t remember saying what I wanted to be when I grew up, I have always been creative, wether it was performing or writing…

I have to say my biggest conquest to date has been signing with my New York agency Wilhelmina and migrating to the USA. I always thought that type of thing was far fetched but it’s reality for me now and I am completely grateful.

My greatest defeat is not pursuing projects that I have had planned for some time.

Time gets better of me too much. I become overwhelmed by it all sometimes.

It is amazing to be able to experience the world through my work. I have been exposed to people and places that I may have never experienced otherwise.

For many reasons, my journey to India is one of the strongest memories because it affected me the most. It was the most extreme example of  great social economic divide and it was devastating. India allowed me to give to a community that was less fortunate then myself, while accentuating how lucky I have been since birth. The experiences of traveling to discover these new places and meeting new friends have shaped me to be a better person.

I am lucky to have had the chance to live in both cities.

They are two of the best in the world. I naturally love Sydney because it was where I was born and I have so many memories there. I know it like the back of my hand. I love the beach and the sun. It is the best that I want to raise my family and live happily ever after.

New York is  a big city that doesn’t sleep. There is always something happening and the opportunity is far greater for me, New York was the chance to move forward and take my career to a new level.

Growing up, I lived in the same home for the first 20 years of my life, yet I don’t feel like that is where I am most at home.

For me, it’s not a place but rather the emotional state of being surrounded by your family.

I’ve grown being accustomed to being separated from home which only gives it a greater sense of worth.

I hope I’ll dance again. the art of dance was huge part of my life for a long time.

All of a sudden my career evolved and it really took a back seat. I have had amazing opportunities to dance for some great music artists around the world and I hope to continue.

For the moment, I am finding my feet in the US and excited for what ever the future may bring.

I have always believed that love conquers you. When you’re looking for it, it never comes. Love takes you over completely with all senses and it’s the greatest thing in the world. When it’s broken, the is it the most tragic all-consuming experience. The most interesting thing about love is how it can transfer you, alter you and destroy you.

I never really been one to have specific  a dream. I’ve always just had the goal to move forward in all facets of life. I guess the ultimate dream would be to be completely satisfied with life before it comes to an end. To have crossed everything off my bucket list, to have loved and been loved, to have a successful career, to have no regrets and to die knowing that I had the best life possible.

Most importantly I take pride in the support I have from everyone around the world. They have given me the chance to continue working in a field that I love and at the same time , create projects such as my calendar and DVD that give back to non-profit charities. I feel great pride in knowing that I have helped people around the world in many different ways through my work and I will continue to as it is at the greatest opportunity that I have.

  1. This must be one site that I’ve found to be non pretentious thus far. This Article and section of Daniel is of genuine nature. As for his truths and perspective on life it leaves much for thought. Would love to see his work again and hear more of his take on life. As former dancer, I honour him for the self discipline taken and the courage he’s shown. Well freakn done!. Step true and stay grounded. BE more of who you are Daniel and thanks.
