History of the Jeans.
Everybody is more or less sure that Jeans are of American origin and specially from the West Coast. Even if it is partially true, the Jeans have started in their carreer … in France!
The word “Blue Jeans” comes from the French sentence “bleu de Gênes” , meaning the blue of Genoa (Italian city on the Mediterranean Sea). Jeans fabric, or “denim” started to be produce in the French town of Nimes from which ‘denim’ (de Nimes or of Nimes in English) gets its name.
In California a merchant Levi Strauss was selling blue jeans under the name of “Levi’s” to the workers of the mining communities in 1850. One of the customer of Levi’s, the taylor Jacob Davis had the idea ti reinforce the clothes by putting copper rivets on some vulnerable points like pocket corners and the top button fly.
