Chris Carmack is an American actor singer and previously fashion male model. He was born in Washington DC (USA), on December 1980.
Chris plays one of the main characters in the TV show Nashville. He is Will Lexington a handsome country singer who is dating girls in his first episodes, but soon he shows some interest in guys and it is more and more obvious that he is a closeted gay man. Finally in season 3 he comes out. In some way playing the role of a closeted gay country singer influences Chris Cormack into two directions: one, was to strengthen his dedication to music, in that case Country music and two , to support gay artists and gay men in general to be more confortable with their sexuality. The culture of the Country Music remains conservative and homophobic, but there are musicians, singers and staff who are gay and who are struggling to preserve their sexuality not to be exposed to blackmail . Recently some famous Country Singers decided to expose their diversity: Billy Gilman, Ty Herndon, Chely Wright, Shane McAnally, Brandy Clark… but for now the Country Music community is not open and ready to accept LGBT as a way of life. To prove his involvement Chris Carmack has joined the lineup for GLAAD’s first Concert for Love and Acceptance which will kick off GLAAD’s six-state Southern Stories bus tour. Carmack joins the previously announced Antigone Rising, Melinda Doolittle, Billy Gilman, Jamie O’Neal and more. The first performance took place June 12, 2015 at Nashville’s City Winery presented by the out country singer Ty Herndon.
