Kaze to Ki no Uta

Kaze to Ki no Uta (the Poem of the Wind and the Trees) or  風と木の詩 in Japanese is known as the first official mage ever published.

It was written by Keiko Takemiya and appeared in a 17 volumes  from 1976 to 1984 in the magazine Shôjo Comic published by Shogakukan.

STORYLINE:

Kaze to Ki no Uta

The story takes place in Provence (France) in a boarding school in the late 19th century. Serge Battour and Gilbert Cocteau are two students who end up becoming friends and eventually lovers. Their relationship faces rejection from the other students and the school administration, so they decide to move to Paris. But Gilbert due to a past trauma was dragged into drugs and prostitution, he finally died in an accident under the wheels of a moving carriage. His partner Serge was traumatised and finally consoled by friends.
