The Origins of Speedo
Speedo’s journey began in 1914 when Alexander MacRae, a young Scottish immigrant, started the company in Australia
Initially named ‘Fortitude’, it wasn’t until 1928 that the brand was coined ‘Speedo’, reflecting the speed and efficiency that the company strived for in its swimwear designs.
International Waters
As the brand grew, it expanded beyond Australian shores, reaching the United States in the 1930s. The Speedo swimwear was quickly accepted in countries with strong swimming cultures, but its reception varied globally, often aligning with the country’s attitudes towards competitive swimming and beach culture.

A Sporting Chance
Speedo gained prominence through its association with competitive swimming. The brand became synonymous with performance and was worn by Olympic gold medalists, which helped cement its reputation as the choice of champions.
The Fabric of Innovation
Speedo has been at the forefront of swimwear technology. They introduced nylon into their designs in the 1950s, and in the 2000s, they developed the LZR Racer suit, which contributed to numerous world records, although it was later banned from competition for providing an unfair advantage.
The guy with the blue swimsuit is so cute and sexy. I like to imagine the secret under his swimsuit. I can see but… the imagination is better.
